BEFORE YOU CHANGE CASH

Your banknotes.
Your actual quote.

“For this amount, how many euros will I receive after all charges?”

That question helps whether you have US dollars, British pounds or another currency. The best place to exchange money in Barcelona depends on your transaction, the quote and the journey to the office. Start with branches near where you are staying or heading next.

01 / ON ARRIVAL

Barcelona Airport

Landing with foreign cash? Check your terminal, the desk’s opening hours and whether you can reach it. Decide what you need for your first expenses before changing the rest of your budget.

02 / IN THE CENTRE

La Rambla and the Born

The directory includes offices on La Rambla, by the Cathedral and on Princesa. A tourist location does not establish the price: ask for a quote for your banknotes and compare it with another option on your route.

03 / BEYOND THE MAIN SIGHTS

Hostafrancs and the Eixample

Look at Creu Coberta, Diagonal or Comte d’Urgell if they fit your plans. You also have offices near Virrei Amat and along Avinguda de Gaudí. Contact the specific branch before making the trip.

BEFORE YOU VISIT

A few questions,
answered.

Useful details for visitors arriving with foreign banknotes or arranging their next trip.

Where is the best currency exchange in Barcelona?

Start with offices that handle your currency and are practical to reach. Compare current quotes for the same amount, including all charges, and check how long each quote lasts. Here is what to ask.

Where can I exchange US dollars or pounds for euros?

The three Quickgold offices publish exchange of dollars and pounds into euros. Europound lists buying and selling foreign currency; Central de Envíos Còrsega and Goldstreet also publish dollars and pounds into euros. Contact the branch about your banknotes and amount. Browse the offices above.

Can I exchange euros for another currency?

Choose a branch that publishes that service. Europound lists both buying and selling foreign currency; some other offices focus on taking foreign banknotes in exchange for euros. Check availability and whether you need to book before visiting.

Should I exchange money at Barcelona Airport?

If you need euros straight away, an accessible airport desk may be practical. If you have time, ask city offices for comparable quotes and include the cost of getting there in your decision. Check the airport and city options.

What identification should I bring?

Ask the office what document it accepts for your transaction and bring the document it specifies. Do not assume the requirements are identical at every company. Read the guide to visiting an exchange office.
